Ever wonder just exactly what ‘Mastering’ actually is? Does the process seem like a mystery to you?
Come out to our studio tutorial series, led by UVic’s professional recording engineer, Kirk McNally. Learn the process and techniques that a mastering engineer employs in a professional studio. Find out what is possible with the mastering process as well as the limitations. Session 1 will provide an overview of the process. Session 2 will use material brought by participants to demonstrate techniques and provide a workshop session.

DIY MIDI Controller Workshop
February 25th from 10am-5pm
Location: Engineering/Computer Science Building 660, University of Victoria
The CMCU is offering a workshop to empower members to build their own MIDI controllers. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will know:
- How to receive control data from analog and digital sensors and utilize to interface your own software via Max/MSP
- Basic soldering/assembling electronics circuits skills
- How to program an Arduino microprocessor (VERY useful for classes you’ll take)
- Basic MIDI knowledge and an understanding of control data
- How to build as many custom MIDI controllers you could ever want…for $free.99
- How to use basic machining tools for fabricating custom housing for your circuits, etc.
